Tone Reproduction
Tone reproduction is the observation of density and density
differences between an original scene and the subsequent image.
There are two types of tone reproduction observation. The first,
objective tone reproduction measures objective differences in the
density and density differences between the original scene and the
subsequent image, whilst the second, subjective tone reproduction
also takes into account viewing conditions which can influence the
perception of tones.
Therefore when photographing an artists work of art it is usually
important to concentrate on a method of objective tone reproduction
whilst in the case of more creative photography subjective tone
reproduction will become more important.
